AdvertisingWhy should you make a FaceBook page for your business?

How do you get more people to know about your business?

It’s simple. Just make a business page on FaceBook. FaceBook is a social networking site that has about 1.23 billion monthly active users. With a number like that it’s guaranteed that you can convert a fraction of that audience into your customers if you just create a page that advertises your business. The best part is that it’s FREE! Even if you pay for custom applications or a developer’s services, it remains a form of advertising with a small price tag. Facebook studies show that people interact with their favorite brands on Facebook more than on any other social network, are more likely to recommend a brand after becoming a fan of it on Facebook, and are more likely to purchase a product after becoming a fan. In addition, anyone outside Facebook can view your Facebook page because search engines index it.

Things you should know before creating a page

The first thing you have to do before creating a page is establish a personal Facebook profile. The individual in that profile would be the creator of the fan page. You don’t have to worry about mixing up your personal profile with your business profile. If you were to post something on your business page, you would be posting as your company name and not under your personal profile. Your customers would not be able to receive any personal information about you.

If you don’t want to run your FaceBook page all by yourself, you can manage your admins. The individual that you would like to provide administration privileges to has to be a friend of your individual profile or must be identified by their email address. This admin can interact with your page without requiring your permission or login. But be careful however, because the person that you give administration will have the ability to remove other admins and the owner of the page too.

Creating a page…

From your Facebook profile page, click the Pages header in the left-side navigation. Next, click the Create a Page button, and select the type of page. 6 different categories will be available to you. After you select your desired category, type in your page name and hit Get Started. You’ll see a number of fields to fill out, such as your business category, name, and address. Once your done, Facebook will guide you through the rest of the setup process, step by step. If you skip any of those steps, you can fill them out later on a new page in the Facebook Welcome section, which only page admins will see.
